WhatsApp makes a statement before each new year and announces the phone models for which it has withdrawn update support. Depending on the device version, WhatsApp will either be installed on phones or will no longer be available. For example, iPhone models with a version below iOS 9 will neither be able to open the application nor install it from the AppStore as of January 1.
